Easy Dog Training Tips
To Make Your Life Easier!

Dog training tips are not easy to come by.  At least not really good ones that work. General dog training is easier than you think.  Unfortunately, people get frustrated when trying to train their dog.

Ultimately, they end up abandoning them or giving them to shelters.  This article will give you some general dog training tips that will make life easier for you - and your dog.

Dog Training Tip #1 - Don't Buy a Puppy on a Whim

Puppies are adorable.  Many people don't think about the major responsibilities that come with owning a dog.  Don't get caught up in your emotions when walking by a pet store and you see cute little puppies in the window!

Remember, you have to house train your dog, buy health insurance for it, and take it to the vet.  Also, who's going to be walking the dog?  If your kids are begging you to buy the dog, remember to consider these major responsibilities before hand.

Dog Training Tip #2 - Dogs Need a Leader

As cute and cuddly as they are, dogs are not humans.  They are social pack animals.  They need a leader.  If you don't demonstrate that you are the leader or the alpha dog, your dog will try to dominate you.  You must establish who is in charge from day one or you'll regret it.

Dog Training Tip #3 - House Train Your Dog With Crate Training

Keeping your dog in a crate may seem cruel.  But it's actually the kindest act you can perform - for yourself and your dog.  Dogs don't poop where they eat and sleep.  If you start crate training your dog from day one, he will get trained quickly to do his business outside.  How?

Your dog sees his crate as a sanctuary, so he will wait to eliminate until you take him outside. Dogs don’t like to lie in their own poop. However, the crate must only be big enough for the dog to stand, sit and lie comfortably.

You MUST be able to correct your puppy as soon as he urinates or defecates in your house.  If you’re not constantly watching him, or if you do not have him confined to one area, you will not catch him in the act, nor will you be able to correct his behavior. Never give your dog free reign of your home until your dog is 100% house proofed.

Dog Training Tip #4 - Invest in a Good Dog Training Guide

Let's face it - hiring a professional dog trainer is too costly.  It's also unnecessary.  It's far more cost effective to invest in an online dog training guide that is easy to read, gives you access to a forum, and has many other dog training resources.

An excellent dog training E-book is Secrets of a Professional Dog Trainer.  This dog training ebook covers every imaginable dog problem you can think of - from dog aggression, to how to stop your dog from jumping on you.

Dog Training Tip #5 - Lavish Praise is a Must

You know the saying, "You can attract more flies with honey?"  Well, it's true.  Your dog craves praise.  They live for it.  Why not give it to them?  The trick is, only praise your dog when he does behavior that is acceptable.  The more you praise him when he does something good, the more eager he will be to do what you want him to do - and the happier you both will be.
