Canine House Training - 5 Simple Steps

Canine House TrainingDifficulty with  canine house training is common amongst new dog owners. Would you like to know how to implement canine house training so that your dog listens to you? I mean any breed, any time, anywhere? It's very simple - depending on the problem. With the right dog training guide you can start canine house training the right way.

Top Dog Problems Dog Owners Face

Let's look at the top problems dog owners face.  Then let's look at how easy it is to correct dog problems:

1.Dog Chewing
2.Dog on Dog aggression
3.Dog Barking nuisance
4.Dog Pooping on the carpet
5.Dog Digging

1) Chewing Dog - Dogs chew for a couple of reasons.  Just like babies, puppies teethe and they need something to chew on - so don't leave your shoes laying around.

Their teeth are growing in so they need to bite on something. Too bad for you, they end up picking your $200 pair of boots you just bought!

Here's what you can do to
stop dog chewing.

If you don't want to crate your dog, then you must watch him every minute. Crate training sounds cruel but it really isn't.

Puppies need to be trained as to what areas are allowed and what areas are off limits. Purchase a chewable toy for him and stick a favorite snack inside.

Make it slightly difficult for your dog to get his treat out of his chew toy so that he stays engaged in the effort.

Make sure you don't leave things lying around on the floor so that your dog doesn't chew them up.

2) Dog on Dog Aggression - This always happens when there's a new jack in town. The dog you had first will resent the new dog coming in.

So here's what to do: When you introduce your new dog to your dog, make sure you make it a point to lavish more attention on your original dog so that he doesn't feel left out.

It's like sibling rivalry. Remember, your original dog was there first, and he doesn't want to feel like an outsider when the newcomer comes home.

In order for your dog not to feel threatened, you have to go to the extreme and pay more attention to him than the newer dog.

3) Dog Barking - Dog barking, especially Beagles, bark because for some it's inbred. Beagles and terriers tend to bark a lot by nature.

To stop dog barking what you need to do is give these dog breeds lots and lots of exercise.  Go to any huge park and let your dog run free. Make them run with you while you ride your bicycle!

Barking is a sign of boredom. Of course, it could also be a sign of an intruder, but usually Beagles bark just for the heck of it. They like listening to themselves howl.

Or, as I mentioned, they have pent up tension. Giving them lots of exercise will cure this dog behavior problem.

4) Dog Urination/Pooping on Rug - To fix this dog problem, you MUST crate train your dog.

Period end of story. Make sure you've purchased a crate before you've gotten the dog because he needs to go into it immediately. The crate needs to be only big enough for him to sit, stand and lie in.

Don't Buy a Large Crate

Don't give your dog a crate so large, he has room to poop and pee in it. The idea is, dogs don't poop where they sleep and eat. By crating him, you are confining him to ONE area of the house - his house.

To get the most of your canine house training experience, make sure you feed your dog on a regular schedule. Restrict both his water and food intake.

You must feed him the same time the same day, every day. Dogs are creatures of habit and so they will poop and pee right after their meal.

You can then time him so that you'll know when exactly you need to take him out.  After you have conditioned him to eat and poop at a regular time, you will be able to let him out of his crate and know that he will not pee or poop on your carpet.

5) Dog Digging - Dogs dig because they're anxious!  Still, that's no excuse.  You can train your dog easily to stop digging up your roses, digging in your garden - or your neighbor's garden in a few simple steps.
